Designed by Verner Panton

Tradition: Verner Panton (1926-1998) once said, “I have never learned so much from somebody as from Arne Jacobsen”. Yet his own fluid, futuristic style couldn’t have been further from Jacobsen’s, for whom he worked from 1950 to 1952. He graduated as an architect from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen in 1951, and later he founded his own studio and went in the opposite direction of most of his contemporary Danish designers. Pop aesthetics in furniture and interiors were born. Verner Panton successfully interpreted the ‘a-changin’ times of the hippie movement and moon landing into visionary colorful interior, lighting and furniture. To him, colour was always more important than form and creating his own theory of light based on Goethe and the Bauhaus painters, he believed, that colour could evoke feelings. The Flowerpot summarized this theory, lightening up in a variety of bright colors.

Verner Panton은 1929년 덴마크 출생으로 코펜하겐 왕립 미술 아카데미에서 건축을 전공한 뒤 당시 최고 디자이너였던 Arne Jacobsen의 건축 사무소에서 일했습니다. 29살에 건축 디자인 사무소를 세워 20세기 명건축 가운데 하나인 The cardboard house를 설계, 건축 뿐 아니라 가구, 램프, 카펫, 시계, 의류 등 다양한 카테고리의 디자인을 세상에 내보였습니다. 그 중 자신의 이름을 딴 Panton chair는 플라스틱 일체 성형의 획기적인 아이디어로1967년 발표되지마자 전세계적으로 극찬받았으며 mid century를 대표하는 작품으로 유명합니다. Verner Panton의 디자인 목적은 사람들에게 상상력을 발휘하도록 해 생활을 더욱 흥미롭게 하는 것이었습니다. 독특한 색채, 공간 구성은 북유럽 모던 디자인 역사에서 확고한 지위를 확립하고 있으며 현재에도 제품의 생산이 계속되고 있습니다.
